This exciting new restaurant, Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar, is strategically located on Cleveland’s vibrant North Coast Harbor and represents the first phase of a masterplan intended to enliven the adjacent waterfront with a variety of residential and entertainment uses. The two-story structure was designed to take advantage of the amazing waterfront park and city skyline views, with ample outdoor terrace seating and banks of operable glass walls emphasizing the outward focus of the restaurant.
The restaurant’s interior is inspired by the handcrafting traditions and materials common in modern day entertainment venues in Mexico. Hand-woven light pendants with a background of terra-cotta textile blocks beckon pedestrians along East 9th Street Pier into the inviting open kitchen, framed by sun-bleached, louvered wooden panels. Custom upholstered banquettes float over mixed patterns of traditional pattern tiles, while a creative “chandelier” of premium tequilas hovers over the main zinc-faced bar. The building and restaurant were completed by Cumberland Development in June of 2016, just in time to host several gala events for the Republican National Convention.
