Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream was Dimit Architects very first client back in 2004, when we were hired by Mike and Pete Mitchell to design the original Beachwood La Place store.
Both Mitchell’s and Dimit Architects have grown during the years that followed, and we have been honored to collaborate with Mitchell’s on a variety of projects including new locations in Avon, Strongsville, Uptown Cleveland, and the Van Aken District, and existing store renovations in Beachwood, Solon, and Rocky River. In 2012, Dimit Architects led the design team for the transformation of the historic Rialto Theater in Ohio City into Mitchell’s central commissary and corporate headquarters- Mitchell’s Ohio City Kitchen and Shop.
Rather than the repetition of an established prototype, the design for each Mitchell’s location has been unique, like a new ice cream flavor, and Pete and Mike have always challenged our team to establish singular and great “places in the lives of people”. The newest Mitchell’s Ice Cream venue is now open at the Van Aken District in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
